Old School Stamford Revealed

Not too long ago, The Management was out and ran into one of Stamford’s “Ol Timers” at a bar. This individual (who we will refer to as MR), grew up in Stamford, is a former business owner and a serious expert on all things Stamford. It also so happens that he is a master in of Italian Cuisine. After a couple of drinks, some laughs and a little persuasion, MR agreed to have The Management over to teach us a thing or two in the kitchen and share some of Stamford’s history with us. To say the least, the evening was memorable…we scored some serious cooking tips, including a bomb recipe for Chicken Scarpiello (email us if you want it), more history on Stamford and a slew of classic lines and sayings. To top it all off, MR had some incredible photos of the Stamford of the past! Did you know that Stamford used to have a trolley?

Winter Games Recap

Filed under: Uncategorized — TheManagement @ 12:39 pm

Here is the rundown on what happen with the Winter Olympic Games…

9 Teams were registered for the evenings events…

  • D-Bags in Goggles
  • Whore-e-o Cookies
  • 1969 Inner City Champs
  • One Night Stand
  • Stateside H.O.T.
  • All Night Longs
  • Cowbell Moo
  • Adolph Oliver  Bush
  • Sexless Inkeepers

Each of the teams competed in 4 events…

S’No Cell Phone Trivia - All of the competitor’s cell phones were placed in plastic bags and they were each given a 20 question trivia quiz with 2 bonus questions, relating to cold, winter and of course the Winter Olympic Games. The top score of the event was 11pts. The low score was 5pts.

Speed Ice Chipping (by far the worst game) - Teams of two were responsible for tossing ice chips, one at a time, into five solo cups 8ft away. The first team member needed to hit all 5 cups individually, before their teammate could take to tossing the ice chips. A mercy rule kicked in at 4 minutes and simply required the teams to hit the remaining number of cups and allowed repeat cups to be made. Fastest time was 2:51, slowest was 6:00. We admit, we should have reconsidered this game or at least tried it before we started, but oh well…. ps> The Management now has a cold due to standing outside for an hour for this damn game!

Ice Pin Bowling – Each teammate was given 3 chances to bowl a ball at 6 frozen pins, highest score won.  The highest score was 11 pins (one strike and a spare).

Frozen Discovery – We took 8 rolls of paper towels and hid 48 white poker chips in the paper towels. Soaked and then froze all of the paperwads. Each team member was required to find one poker chip (two per team) and hand the chips to the ref. Fastest team won.

The Final Results

First Place: Team One Night Stand – 32pts (Prize: Jack Daniel’s Pop-Up Basketball Hoop)

Second Place: Sexless Inkeepers – 31 pts (Prize: 2 lift tickets to Bromley Mt. + hand warmers)

Third Place: Whore-e-o Cookies – 28 pts. (Prize: Heineken Beertender Kegerator)

4th: D-Bags in Goggles – 27pts
5th: All Night Longs – 24pts
6th: Stateside H.O.T, – 23pts
7th: 1969 Inner City Champs – 22pts
8th: Adolph Oliver Bush – 21pts
9th: Cowbell Moo – 17pts

Two Event Week: Black Taxi and Mardi Gras Stop/Light Party

Filed under: Uncategorized — TheManagement @ 11:44 am

Hello members,

We know you are probably prepping for the blizzard this week, but we are here to let you know that the Happy Hour Club will be heating up this weekend!

Friday, Feb 12th – Black Taxi at Rack ‘n’ Roll Cafe in Stamford @9pm

If you haven’t been to a Black Taxi show yet, this is your chance. Black Taxi is one of Brooklyn’s hottest bands and surprisingly they love to come out here to entertain us on a semi-regular basis! They recently headlined Boston’s First Night at Copley Square (click for vids) and also had their track Pretty Mama featured on the Youth in Revolt trailer (click here). Come down and check them out!

Rack ‘n’ Roll Cafe is located at 268 Atlantic St, Stamford (Click for Map)

Saturday, Feb 13th – Mardi Gras/Stoplight Party at Route 22 in Stamford @10pm

The Saints won the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras is around the corner and this Sunday is Valentine’s Day. What better way to celebrate all of these happenings than with a Mardi Gras/Stop Light Party! We have a feeling that most of you know about Mardi Gras, so we will take a quick second to explain the Stop Light Party … Green=Single, Red = unavailable/in a relationship, Yellow = somewhere in between. You can either wear one of these colors or grab your color of Mardi Gras beads when you come through the door. To top this all off, Whoz Ya Daddy will be rocking the stage all night and giving you the chance to humor the old ball ‘n’ chain or impress whoever is catching your eye!

Route 22 is located at 1980 West Main St, Stamford (Click for Map)
If you have any questions regarding any of the above, shoot us an email (fchappyhourclub@gmail.com)

Cheers,
